SEP,2005 The 40th Anniversary Newsletter (Special edition) had included some highlights of the 40th Anniversary Nite
-- (Note:due to accidents affecting our Hon. Newsletter editor, the Newsletter was published lately.)
DEC,2004 40th Anniversary Dinner -- thanks for ALL sponsors, Past Chairman, Old Friends, and relatives in helping the Event. That night was a wonderful and inspiring one with Past Chairs talking about the past (since 1964) and encouraging our future path...... Each honourable guest had received a set of sourvenir (crystal marker and stamps). Each guest had also left a few words for the coming future about how the Association could play a part in the coming education reform.

HKChO : Hong Kong Chemistry Olympiad for Secondary Schools (9th) -- series of screening (1st in March); Poster-presentation (2nd in Mar-27); Briefing of 6 Finalists (Apr-23); Final Round at HK PolyU at 15-May.

Core Council Members' meeting discussed about "kicking off for June AGM & 40th Anniv 2004".
Decided -- go ahead meeting with friends of the core education reform, esp. for the coming New SS Curriculum (in particular the New Liberal Studies that affect all teachers & students).
May review from some points in our past AGMs (since 2000 on www) -- Prof Cheng K.M. has voiced about several issues then (2000)... could ask what his views are today (2004)

Council: Conference for Sec Sch Science Teachers, Career Masters and Parents (co-org. with HKU) at HKU (21-Feb)
... Since Feb 2004

A new series of "Maths & Sciece Trails" will be organised under the sponsorship of the DTN funding. Many council members are involved with additional manpower from the part-time RA, Mr Philip Yeung.
Decided to hold the competition by territories (NT East, NT West, HK+Kln) with workshops for local teachers so as to help them organise their own functions under the assistance of the HKASME.

The Tuen Mun interschool junior maths contest 2004 has completed. There were 28 schools participated in total.

New Science Curriculum -- ...
Some Council members has recently met Prof. John Ogborn, a retired Professor of Science Educ (at the Institute of Education, University of London) in HKU. Prof J. Ogborn has just completed directing a large National project "Advancing Physics" which produced a new physics curriculum for the ages 16 - 18. ....
